Storms Never Last
By Cheri Lee Funk
As I sit on the beach today I am reminded of a poem a friend of
mine wrote. It is titled Storms Never Last. And as I sit her today,
I just hope and pray she is right. Storms come but they also go.
I try to remember that if we never have the storms we surely
wouldn't appreciate the sun as much.
Personally, I have always been someone who basks in the sun. I
think that is because there have been many storms in my life. So
whenever just a little ray of sun shines through, I grab it and hold
it close. Sometimes I really believe that if I hold it and I care for
it and I give it just what it needs it will grow into a huge sunbeam
that will light my path and warm me for many days to come. And
then sometimes after holding it and caring for it, I find it was just
a little glimmer that soon fades.
But I know that if I had never grabbed hold of it in the first place
there wouldn't have been that bright warm glow in my heart and
in my life. Though I would have liked for it to stay longer and not
fade away, I realize its time has gone. So I need to be happy for
the time it was here and thankful for it kept me warm and made
me happy even if only for a little while.
As I look into the sky today, there are clouds on the horizon and
the sunbeam has faded and left me for now. But I will carry it
around in my heart to take out on those days when I need a
reminder, like today, that Storms Never Last.

I am currently living in a beautiful little beach town on the East coast
called Southport and spend my days sitting at the beach and writing poetry
and short essays.
Here is the poem:
Storms Never Last
I hear thunder in the distance
Something strange is in the air
A cold wind is blowing
Like a whisper through my hair.
The sun turns to darkness
The sky as black as night
My blood runs colder
A feeling of inner fright.
Icy breezes like fingertips
Brush against my face
I pray this storm passes quickly
And never leaves a trace.
I believe deep in my heart
As my mind recalls the past
The sun soon will shine again.
Storms never last.

REQUESTS:
From: agnes@transami.co.ke (AGNES)
Dear Michael,
I hope the Lord has continued to bless you and your family
abundantly. You have brought joy in our lives with the work you are
doing on this list.
I just wanted to thank you for praying for me. The good Lord heard
our prayers and I am not leaving the company after all. Remember I
had written last year to tell you that I had been asked to leave the
company by 3/12/00?? Praise be to the Mighty God, even after
being given a letter of termination, it was revoked and now I will
continue to do my duties as usual. It's the greatest miracle
Michael!! Everyone in the company is amazed that I am still here.
We serve a mighty God. Everything is possible through Christ
Jesus.
Again thanks for the prayers and God bless you.
Agnes.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Austin and her family
and to those of you who asked for responses, sorry this did not come any
quicker. Austin returned home! She will be on mainline IV antibiotics
for another five weeks and she had a permanent shunt placed from her
brain to her stomach to drain fluid. Her IV is such that she can hook
up for meds and then un hook for the duration. She is doing remarkably
well and is enjoying home. She is playing well, and I am sure it will
all take some getting used to for all of them. Thank you all, once
again. I hope this finds all of you well, and in good health!
God Bless.
Christina

"I thought of you first after my family sat down to watch the video we gave
them. They loved it, to say the least! Within thirty seconds my mom was
crying and my dad did too. They said it was the best Christmas gift we could
have given them!! You did such a beautiful job! They were so surprised and so
touched---they really, really, really loved it. Thanks for helping to make it so
special to us all. My mom mentioned how the songs were perfect for the
video too! Thanks again!"
