COMRADE IN ARMS

By: Linda S. Faith

Here rests in honored glory
Known only to God
A soldier who stood gallantly
Battling against Hitler's evil guard

Mightily he paid with his life
Still unsung was his song
Just a babe standing tall
Marching into the fiery belly of hell

Through piercing rain and torrential winds
Our soldiers landed on Normandy's shore
Valiantly our army took its stand
As bombs and gunfire overhead lit the skies
And sand flats took our boys

The grist of war yielded no rest
For some no silence came until God called
Oh what a tragedy of it all

Throughout the years history will honor and recall
The bravery of our men both young and old
Their courage is undeniable
Their tombstones so unforgettable
With or without a name inscribed therein
May they find honor and glory
Forever with our Lord

A little bit about Linda:

I am a new writer to the web but not to my family and friends. I love sharing my work and I enjoy reading other creative endeavors. I have lived in Florida for the past 5 years after moving from Atlanta. I love to travel, and have an arts history/architecture background. I am married to a retired executive for 22 years and have 4 step children , 1 God child (miracle story), and 10 grandchildren! We play golf and I am now committed to writing from the "heart."

REQUESTS: (Lots of them today!)

From: tinifer@yahoo.com (Christina Miller, my little sister!)

My friend Vern is fifty three and he is in intensive care in Fort Wayne Indiana. He is suffering, at the moment from pneumonia and another infection. He has been on a heart transplant list for a long time. If he pulls through the infections he will be put on an emergency heart transplant list. His wife's name is \ Arlan, it has been a long, hurting road.

This prayer has been requested before by my aunt, Marilyn Kemmerling, but I think it needs to be "re-upped". My uncle Bliss Kemmerling is suffering from cancer (the technical names of which I get messed up). He is now confined to a hospital bed at home and is being cared for by my aunt and a hospice service. He is one of the finest Christian gentlemen and just plain neatest people I have ever been blessed to know and any and all prayers would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill Greer

Hi everyone...another mom update.
She's come home from the hospital, and the surgery went well. They took out the old hardware in her body and placed the morphine pump. She STILL has
had NO (nada, zip, zero, zilch) back pain at all, although her incisions are causing her grief. She had 4 incisions...2 to take out her old hardware and
wires, and 2 to put the new stuff in. She says that the incision that is from her new pump being "installed" is the one that hurts the worst. They are bothering her so bad right now that she can barely walk. Unfortunately
the morphine in her system is doing little to help with the incision pain.
She has asked me to tell you all thank you and that she appreciates all the prayers and well wishes that you all have sent our way.
She suspects that its gonna be a while before shes back online, but I will be sure to keep you updated.
Thank you again for all your prayers and support. It means the world to us.
Jaimie

Thought For The Day:

"The man who sings his own praises always gets the wrong pitch."

Verse for the Day:

"Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips."
Proverbs 27:2

Kid's Thought For The Day:

"Squeeze the tube slowly, because once the toothpaste is out it's hard to get it back in."

Parent's Thought For The Day

"No need to worry about your teenagers when they're not at home. A national survey revealed that they all go to the same place -'out'- and they all do the same thing -'nothing'."
(Bruce Lansky)

Coach's Thought For The Day

Too often we forget it is the players who do the competing. You never heard the word "I" so much as when coaches get together. Our challenge is to keep the focus off ourselves and work towards developing a cohesive team. We're all important to the overall effort, but none of us is irreplaceable.
(Denny Raarup)

Deep Thought For The Day:

If it's such a "beautiful day in the neighborhood," then why is Mr. Rogers wearing a sweater?

"I thought of you first after my family sat down to watch the video we gave them. They loved it, to say the least! Within thirty seconds my mom was crying and my dad did too. They said it was the best Christmas gift we could have given them!! You did such a beautiful job! They were so surprised and so touched---they really, really, really loved it. Thanks for helping to make it so special to us all. My mom mentioned how the songs were perfect for the video too! Thanks again!"
