Oh what a glorious weekend!  Cool crisp nights, the leaves just started to turn in our yard, and the Chicago Bears destroyed the Green Bay Packers!  A glorious weekend indeed!

It is with pleasure that I introduce James "Poppy K" Kisner to everyone on Straight From the Heart.  Special congratulations go out to Heather Scott and Ryan Risseeuw, who got married this past Saturday, so I thought James' poem was especially fitting today!

June 23, 2000

Today she's getting married, my young daughter is a bride.
There are no words that can express, the way I feel inside.

She's now a woman old enough, to go out on her own.
I still can't get it in my mind, my little girl is grown.

This day approached so quickly, and in just a little while,
I'll have to take my daughter's arm, to walk her down the isle.

I'll stand there beside her, when I hear the preacher say,
"Is there one among you, who will give this girl away?"

I will repeat the simple phrase, I was instructed to.
Then I will smile and loudly say, "Her mother and I do."

Then I will turn and walk away, and find the second pew,
And realize that was the hardest thing I'll ever do.

It's not that I'm not happy, for the life she now will start.
I know she found a great young man, who's given her his heart.

I guess it's just a "father thing," as I choke back the tears.
I was the only man who shared, her life through all these years.

Most father's will not tell you, this day brings a little grieving.
In their heart they know, a little part of them is leaving.

They are happy, they are sad, emotions running wild.
Why is it the father's job, to give away a child?

A father knows his life will change, after all of this,
But only wants his daughter, to find total happiness.

So as I stand and say the words, I'm giving her away,
To a very special young man, on this special day.

Know this my young, sweet daughter, that way down deep in my heart,
You'll always be my little girl, and we will never part.

And now for some humor at the expense of all my Packer friends!

A group of terrorists burst into the conference room at the
Ramada Hotel where the Green Bay Packer fan club was holding
its Annual Convention. More than 500 Packer fans were taken as
hostages.

The terrorist leader announced that, unless their demands
were met, they would release one Packer fan every hour.

A Green Bay Packer fan told her friend, "I was worried that my mechanic might try to rip me off, so I was relieved when he told me all I needed was blinker fluid."

Albert Einstein arrives at a party and introduces himself to the first
person he sees and asks, "What is your IQ?" to which the man answers
"241."

"That is wonderful!" says Albert. "We will talk about the Grand
Unification Theory and the mysteries of the Universe. We will have much
to discuss!"

Next Albert introduces himself to a woman and asks, "What is your IQ?"
To which the lady answers, "144."
 
"That is great!" responds Albert. "We can discuss politics and current
affairs. We will have much to discuss!"
 
Albert goes to another person and asks, "What is your IQ?" to which the
man answers, "51."

Albert responds, "How 'bout them Green Bay Packers?"

Two Green Bay Packer fans were taking a walk one day and walked upon some
tracks. One Packer fan said they were deer tracks. The other said they were bear tracks...

... While they were arguing, a train ran them over.

 Two Packer fans were sitting watching the evening news when a clip comes
up with a woman standing on a ledge...."She's gonna jump, she is"....remarks the one fan.
"No she ain't, I bets ya a $100 she dunt."
The other Packer fan takes the bet and sure enough no sooner after that the woman leaps from the ledge.
     The one fan reaches for his wallet when the winner remarks, "I can't
take yer money cuz I watched the 6 o'clock news and I knews she was a
gonna jump."
     The other remarks, "Dat's fine, I watched the 6 o'clock news me-self
and coulda swore she wouldn't jump a second time."

Q.      Did you hear that the Post Office had to recall its series of stamps
depicting Green Bay Packer Hall of Famers?

A.      People were confused about which side to spit on.
