As most of you know I am a coach, and over the last 12 years my wife Kristi and I have developed relationships with those young ladies that have crossed our paths. We have grown close to a number of those players over the years and try and keep in contact with as many as we can after they graduate and strike out on their own. One of those former players is Jamie Rusch, and we are more than thankful that she has continued to make our family a part of her life... but more importantly, Jamie has given control of her life over to the Lord, and we couldn't be more proud to watch her blossom into the beautiful young lady, inside and out, that God intended her to be... Today just happens to be Jamie's birthday and Kristi and I would like to humbly ask if you would send her some birthday greetings via e-mail to make her birthday a special one... Her email address is: RuschJam@hotmail.com We would be more than honored if you took a moment to e-mail her and wish her a happy birthday. Be sure to let her know what part of the country or world the greetings are coming from! Thank you in advance for making her birthday one to remember... Jamie, as we wrote in the acknowledgment section of our book, "Thank you for the incredible love that you have shown us, for taking an interest in our children, and for always going above and beyond the call of duty." We love you and look forward to watching God do great things with your life... Michael, Kristi, Caleb, and Connor _________________________________________ Today's Difference By Daniel James Dear Lord, as I journey through life help me to walk your walk this day. Let me reach out to those who travel this road with me. If by only an inch, help me to assist someone along the way this day. Oh Lord, may I keep you in my view, and draw strength from you. And may I always remember to put the least first this day. How is it this day that I will make a difference? Differences are made by hands extended, not heads turned away. Differences are made by connection, not by separation. Differences are made by conversation made, not by conversation avoided. Differences are made by extension, not by retraction. Differences are made by giving, not taking. Differences are made by effort, not by inaction. Differences are made by extension beyond comfort. Differences are made by pushing beyond the point of weariness. Differences are made by extending beyond "self." Differences are made by taking a certain amount of calculated risk. Differences are made by moving forward and outward. Differences are made by recognizing opportunity and acting on it. Differences are made by getting the words right. Differences are made by quiet action with little or no public display. Differences are made one person at a time. Differences are made one moment at a time. Differences are made when we give that with which God has blessed us. Differences are made when we invest time in someone. Differences are made when we listen well. Differences are made when we act out of kindness. Differences are made when we show compassion. Differences are made when we love. And so I pray, Dear Lord, as I journey through life help me to walk your walk this day. Let me reach out to those who travel this road with me. If by only an inch, help me to assist someone along the way this day. Oh Lord, may I keep you in my view, and draw strength from you. And may I always remember to put the least first this day. We received a ton of feedback on yesterday's article "Pastor Appreciation." We won't be able to share them all but have listed some of them below and will share more in Monday's e-mail... And many asked if it was OK to use the article in their church bulletin, newsletter, etc. The article may be used freely in anything like that with the blessing and permission of the author, Victor Parachin, and Christianity Today, where it first appeared. ******* Dear Michael: I am moved and touched by this article. It is true that sometimes (or is it most of the times?) we become the harshest critic of our pastors that we tend to overlook their sterling characteristics. This is an eye opener and maybe as there is still one Sunday in October, we can surprise our pastor on Sunday with a "little something nice". Thanks to Victor Parachin and thanks to you Michael for bringing us joy through the HT stories. God bless you and your family. Beth esbaluyot@petron.com I AGREE! THIS ARTICLE IS WONDERFUL! THANK YOU! WE SHOULD ALL PRAY FOR OUR PASTORS MORE! Kaki 980@aol.com Thanks for sharing the article! It is so true. If we don't support our pastors, what have we got? Whenever my family goes to church, my little ones always give our priests a hug. They especially need them as well as our prayers. God bless you all, Kathleen kdahl@lib.uwo.ca The quote at the end of #2 is something we all need to remember. Treating someone as they need to be can make such a difference!!! That quote holds so much wisdom!!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
