    I just wanted to take some time to introduce a special lady with all of you.  Joan Wester Anderson has been such a blessing in my life offering encouragement, advice, and wisdom in so many areas.  She has always been gracious to me with her time, answered a thousand questions, and even wrote the forward to my upcoming book entitled: Straight From the Heart.  I have grown to love and respect her and now wanted to share her with all of you!

An article on her latest book appears in this week's issue of People Magazine, and if you want to see her on TV she was interviewed for a segment on 20/20 and it will air this Friday night, 11/24/00 on ABC at 10:00 PM EST.  (For those of us in the Midwest that would be 9:00 PM.)

ABOUT JOAN WESTER ANDERSON

Author and lecturer Joan Wester Anderson was born in Evanston, Illinois. She began her writing career in 1973 with a series of family humor articles for local newspapers and parenting magazines. She was a monthly columnist for two parenting publications during the 1980's, and has published more than one thousand articles and short stories in a variety of national publications, including Woman's Day, Modern Bride, Virtue, Modern Maturity, Chicago Parent, and The New York Times Syndicate.

Her books include Where Angels Walk, True Stories of Heavenly Visitors, which was on the New York Times best-seller list for over a year, has sold almost two million copies and has been translated into fourteen languages. Published in Fall, 1994, were the sequel to Angels, titled Where Miracles Happen, True Stories of Heavenly Encounters, and An Angel to Watch Over Me, a book for children. Both books were written in response to suggestions from readers. Her eleventh book, Where Wonders Prevail, was released in November, 1996, and Angels We Have Heard on High became available in October 1997.

Joan's previous book, The Power of Miracles was published in November, 1998. All of the books in the "angel/miracle" series are published by Ballantine Books, a division of Random House.

Joan has appeared on national television programs including "Good Morning America," "Oprah," "Mother Angelica Live," "NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw" and "Sally Jessy Raphael," and has taken part in such documentaries as "Angels--Beyond the Light" (NBC), "Angel Stories" and "Stories of Miracles" (The Learning Channel). She has been a story consultant and occasional guest expert for the PaxNet TV show, It's a Miracle. She has lectured in cities across the country, and has been interviewed on hundreds of national, local and international radio shows.

Joan is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and a former adjunct professor at Harper Community College in Palatine, Illinois. She and her husband live in suburban Chicago, and are the parents of five grown children, and grandparents of one.
