Christian Muggles
Has it really been 8 years since many if not most of you sat in a theater and watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Do you remember how you felt as you were thrust into a world of fascinating characters and top level effects? And over the years the world has obviously gone wild about Harry.
And now we are almost at journey's end. Little Harry, Ron and Hermione are all grown up now with hormones racing and raging faster than a Golden Snitch, and the world of Hogwarts has changed more than its shifting staircases.
How so? Well, you'll have to find out for yourself, but trust me, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will take you on an unprecedented literary and theatrical ride into one of the better ?good vs. evil' setups I've ever seen.
What is definitely new in this story is the fact that Muggles (non-magic folks) are seeing and experiencing the effects of Voldemort's eeeeeeeevil on a grand scale.
In other words, the vast majority of people in the Harry Potter world went about their daily lives completely clueless about the relatively invisible life and death battle raging all around them. That is, until the effects of the struggle became unquestionably clear right before their eyes.
But that's just in a fantasy book created by JK Rowling, right?
Right.if you're talking about the Harry Potter world. Yet I would submit to you that there is an extreme parallel with the real world, our world, that is described in one of oldest and definitely the bestselling book of all time. Read these passages carefully, as if they were written directly to you, because guess what? They are!
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil's trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants (1 Peter 5:8; Ephesians 6:11-12; 2 Timothy 2:25-26 NLT).
Are you seeing the similarities here? First, there is an incomprehensibly wicked being roaming the unseen territories of planet earth who makes Voldemort look like a Boy Scout. Satan is the most powerful created being in the universe and we have been warned.
Not only that, Christians are a part of this unseen war, whether we like it or not. Satan has his own ?death eaters,' but they aren't people. They are spiritual beings called demons who were once angels in the service of God. The demons are battling for your very soul even as you read this.
Like Muggles, there are lots of people who plod through existence with nary a suspicion that spiritual battles rage around them every minute of every day. Oh but the evidences are there, wouldn't you agree?
The addicts, the depressed, the bitter, the abusers, the violent, the cruel, the selfish, and the prideful are all those who have fallen into ?the devil's trap.' They truly are held ?captive,' and it is our mission to ?gently instruct those who oppose the truth' - so that ?perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth.'
What truth? Not just that they are locked in a spiritual prison, but that they can be set free! There's a reason Jesus made the claim to be The Way, The Truth, and The Life, because only through trusting in Him for salvation can we find victory over the one the Bible calls "the commander of the powers in the unseen world" (Ephesians 2:2). When Jesus Christ sacrificed His life on the Cross and came back from the dead, God's victory over Satan was made complete - and the way was opened for us to join forces with Him and help defeat the evil plans and purposes of Satan while we remain on earth.
Satan's most devious scheme is blinding the minds of your friends who don't know Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:4). The last thing he wants is for them to know the truth about the gospel. When you tell your friends about Jesus and what He did on the cross, you are wielding the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16) and defeating the evil forces of the world. To me, that's more thrilling than any storyline or special effect could ever match, because this battle is as real as it gets.
So if you're a Christian Muggle - i.e. one who is unaware and unengaged in the battle for humanity's destiny - open your spiritual eyes and wield the weapons of God's word and prayer.we need you in the fight!
Talk to your friends about why they think the Harry Potter series has been so successful, and point out that one element of all great stories is the battle between good and evil. Ask them how they have seen good vs. evil in real life, and use that as a potential spiritual discussion point that leads to an opportunity to share the gospel - in particular how Jesus conquered evil and death on the Cross.
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you (Romans 16:20).
When you forgive this man, I forgive him, too. And when I forgive whatever needs to be forgiven, I do so with Christ's authority for your benefit, so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes. When I came to the city of Troas to preach the Good News of Christ, the Lord opened a door of opportunity for me (2 Corinthians 2:10-12).
Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming. This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them (2 Thessalonians 2:8-10).
Creation Q & A
Many creationists are searching for a "magic bullet"?a proof of creation so powerful that there can be no true rebuttal. But is there such a proof? In our brand-new book The Ultimate Proof of Creation we find that there is!
When many people think of "proof," they often think of a particular piece of scientific evidence that they believe supports their position. They might be thinking of a particular fossil series or a specific rock or a DNA sequence. The problem with such evidences is that there is always another way to understand them.
An evolutionist looking at a fossil series is thinking in terms of common descent, whereas a creationist is thinking in terms of variation within a kind. An evolutionist looks at the similarities in DNA and concludes that there is a common ancestor. But a creationist, looking at those same similarities, sees evidence that there is a common Creator.
We all have access to the same physical evidence. But creationists and evolutionists interpret that evidence differently because we each have a different view of history. We have two distinctly different views of the world that constrain how we understand the evidence. So, there simply is no "magic bullet" if we are thinking in terms of specific scientific evidences. Nevertheless, there is a proof of creation.
Competing Worldviews
The debate is really a matter of competing worldviews. So, we need to ask, "Which worldview (way of interpreting) is the correct way to understand the evidence?" The Ultimate Proof of Creation demonstrates that it is the Christian worldview alone that makes science and reasoning possible. The methods and procedures of science require a universe that is orderly and logical: a universe that obeys relatively simple mathematical relationships that human beings can understand and use.
But if the universe were really the result of a chance big bang and if the human mind were simply the accidental result of billions of mutations, then there would be no reason to think that the mind could understand the universe. Why should one accident be able to understand another accident? If creation were not true, how would science make sense? So, we do not have to look for a specific scientific evidence to prove the Bible. Rather, the fact that science is possible at all demonstrates that the Christian worldview is true.
Is "More Evidence" the Answer?
Many Christians are under the mistaken impression that critics of the Bible would believe if only they had more evidence of the biblical God. But this just isn't so. According to Romans 1:18-20, everyone has an innate knowledge of the God of creation.
The problem is not that people lack evidence; the problem is that they "suppress the truth in unrighteousness." They deny what they know in their heart of hearts. The key to success in apologetics is not necessarily to give people more evidence, but to expose their suppressed knowledge of God. (Of course, evidence can be used as part of the means by which this is accomplished, as discussed in chapter 6.)
The Secret of Success
Contrary to popular opinion, you really don't need to be particularly smart or knowledgeable of science to defend the Christian faith well. The secret of success is to learn to think properly. And that is what The Ultimate Proof of Creation is all about.
This book will train Christians to defend the Bible (emphasizing Genesis) and to logically refute all non-biblical worldviews. Readers will learn how to identify arbitrariness, inconsistency, and logical fallacies in the critic's position. It is a truly unique book.
The Ultimate Proof of Creation is designed to enhance the reader's critical thinking skills?to quickly spot and refute errors in the skeptic's thinking. You will be amazed how easy it is to defend the faith once you learn just a few key procedures. You'll never see the world the same way after reading this book. And you will be surprised at how easy it is to politely refute arguments by anyone critical of biblical creation?whether it's a Ph.D. scientist or your obstinate brother-in-law.

Thought For The Day
The teacher asked the pupils to tell the meaning of loving-kindness. A little boy jumped up and said, "Well, if I was hungry and someone gave me a piece of bread that would be kindness. But if they put a little jam on it, that would be loving-kindness."

Writer's Thought For the Day
"I had marked down in my notebook three characteristics a work of fiction must possess in order to be successful. It must have a precise and suspenseful plot. The author must feel a passionate urge to write it. He must have the conviction, or at least the illusion, that he is the only one who can handle this particular theme." --Isaac Bashevis Singer
Deep Thought For The Day
"Find out what it is in life that you don't do well and then don't do that thing."
